These are a few things I do, a couple of times a year, if I feel like I need to get back on track and sort myself out;
SETTING GOALS.
POSITIVE MINDSET.
Waking up and reading over your goals is great but I don’t feel it works unless you commit to a positive mindset – something which is not going to happen every single day of your life but it’s something everyone should at least try to do and work towards. I used to be a very pessimistic person and I didn’t realise I was at all until people around me started to point it out – which I think is the best way for you to realise something negative about yourself. Another thing I try to do is write ‘to-do’ lists in the morning, especially if I feel like I have 101 things to do. Writing a list clears your mind and more often than not you will realise that what you thought you had to do in a day can be done in two hours.
HEALTH.
Eating healthy and attaining a healthy lifestyle is something I swear by to get out of motivational dips and lazy periods. First of all, diet is soooo important for mindset and it’s so easy to get into an unhealthy routine and not feel bothered about getting out of it but the minute you start to change your diet, your energy levels increase, your mind becomes clear and in turn, your motivation will come back and laziness disappear. I also think going to bed at a reasonable time and waking up before 10am helps a lot. I used to sleep super early and wake early but I was sleeping for 10 hours at a time without actually realising it, which is far too long to sleep and only made me feel more tired when I woke. I sleep for seven to eight hours a night and voilaaaa – my energy is back!
These are just a few tips I swear by but the absolute best way to gain motivation is to make yourself have it. Wake up and tell yourself that whatever you want to do in life you can do, and the only thing stopping you, is you.
If you don’t love what you’re doing, then do something to change it. I speak from experience and know how scary it is to leave a job you hate or to end friendships and relationships with people that add nothing substantial to your life but these are all contributing to negativity in your life that you just don’t need. Someone said to me about eight months ago ‘the day you learn to say no to people is the day you will become a lot happier’ and this is something I swear by these days. We’re all young and we all only have one shot at life so keep doing what you love, focus on your goals and take each day as it comes!
